Seek-and-Find

You know those seek-and-find word search puzzles you dabbled as a kid, or maybe you still play the word game today on your phone when trying to relax or pass the time? Great news for you if you still love a good puzzle! The Reader’s Digest says that several studies have revealed important benefits from doing word and number puzzles, benefits like improving cognitive function and helping preserve brainpower! A good puzzle makes you “use it,” so you’re sure not to “lose it.”

What could be more important than keeping your mind sharp? If you search “mental clarity” on the internet, thousands of results come back. People care about their cognitive abilities greatly, and for many reasons, just a few being:

  • Focus and Direction: When you have mental clarity, it’s easier to find focus and direction in life. Feeling lost or directionless can hinder progress, but with clarity, you can move toward your goals more effectively.
  • Productivity: Mental clarity makes it easier to get things done. When your mind is clear, you can prioritize tasks and take action without self-doubt or indecision.
  • Prioritization: Clarity helps you prioritize effectively. You can distinguish between what truly matters and what doesn’t, leading to better decision-making.
  • Overcoming Doubt: A clear mind allows you to push through doubt. When you’re focused and certain, you’re less likely to second-guess yourself.
  • Contentment: Mental clarity contributes to a sense of contentment. When you’re aligned with your goals and values, you experience fulfillment and positivity.

Remember, having a clear, focused mind isn’t just about thinking—it impacts your overall well-being, emotional state, and ability to make healthier choices. So, yes, people do care about their mental clarity. It’s a huge industry because people are willing to invest lots of time and money to boost their brain power!

“Puzzles play with words, numbers, shapes, and logic in a way that impels us to uncover the solutions that they hide,” says Marcel Danesi, professor of semiotics and anthropology at Victoria College, University of Toronto, and author of The Total Brain Workout. “We are thus engaged in a mental hunt for something, much like a detective in mystery stories or a scientist looking for the reason behind some phenomenon,” he says. “Puzzles are small-scale versions of this ‘quest for understanding,’ even though there is nothing new at the end of the hunt when a solution is uncovered. It is the hunt itself that is likely to stimulate various areas of the brain that involve discovery and a sense of satisfaction at once.”

The hunt for words isn’t the only hunt that will bring mental focus. There is actually a better way, and the success rate is 100%. If you’re willing to invest time and money into programs, routines and supplements to keep your mind well, get ready for this: It’s not a seek-and-find word search that truly helps – it’s seeking and finding GOD that truly works! God says in His word that when you seek Him, you will receive a sound mind, self-control, total confidence, wisdom in any circumstance, efficiency in your work, success, focus, and clear direction – not to mention enjoyment and peace.

Sound mind & self-control:

  • 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
  • Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things, there is no law.”

Total confidence & wisdom:

  • Proverbs 3:26 “For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught. When you know that your steps are ordered by God, you walk uprightly, sure-footed, and in confidence. The righteous walk by faith and not sight. We move according to the leading of the Holy Spirit, who gives us wisdom and discernment.”
  • James 1:53 “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
  • 2 Timothy 2:7 “Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.”

Efficiency in your work & success:

  • Proverbs 16:3 “Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”
  • Psalm 128:2 “You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.”
  • Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
  • Philippians 4:13 “I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.”
  • Psalms 37:4 “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Focus & clear direction

  • Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
  • 2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”
  • Proverbs 3:6 “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
  • Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.”
  • Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
  • Psalm 119:133-136 “Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.”

Joy & Peace

  • 1 Corinthians 14:33 “For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.”
  • Psalm 16:11 “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
  • Romans 15:13 “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
  • Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Now you know that God offers all these gifts to His children, if they would only ask. Whatever it is that you are asking for, search the Bible and find scripture that supports your desire, and pray with unwavering faith!

Seek the things of God, and you shall find them. Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

Have faith in the Word, not in the world. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

Your faith makes the Word of God work in your life. Matthew 17:20 says, “He said to them, ‘Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from here to there,” and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.’”

I pray that these scriptures lift you up and confirm what God has written in your heart! I pray you already know God, but there is a chance you are reading this, and you don’t know Him – or have questions about spiritual things and you just haven’t known where to turn for answers, or maybe you’ve simply lacked motivation or the desire. Earlier I asked, “What could be more important than keeping your mind sharp?” I promise you, there is something more important. Let me encourage you to make a decision right now: Jesus said that when the final day comes, people will desperately turn to Him and He’ll say to them, “Depart from Me. I never knew you.” The final day and the final hour is coming literally at any moment. Everyone reading this can agree that their own final hour is unpredictable.  If you’re a Christian, but realize you don’t really know Jesus, this is for you. If you’re seeing this and have never been told the Gospel or offered the opportunity to respond to it, here’s the deal. Has anyone ever told you that God loves you and that He has a wonderful plan for your life? I have a real quick, but important question to ask you. If you were to die this very second, do you know for sure, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that you would go to Heaven?  If your answer is anything other than, “I have Jesus in my heart,” let me share this news with you!

This is what the Holy Bible reads. It reads, “for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,” and “for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. The Bible also reads, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  And you’re a “whosoever,” right? Of course you are; all of us are!

I’m going to say a quick prayer for you. Lord, bless the person reading this and their family with long and healthy lives. Jesus, make Yourself real to them and do a quick work in their heart. If they have not received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, I pray they will do so now.

Reader, if you would like to receive the gift that God has for you today, say this after me with your heart and with your lips out loud: Dear Lord Jesus, come into my heart. Forgive me of my sin. Wash me and cleanse me. Set me free. Jesus, thank You that You died for me. I believe that You are risen from the dead and that You’re coming back again for me. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. Give me a passion for the lost, a hunger for the things of God and a holy boldness to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I’m saved; I’m born again, I’m forgiven and I’m on my way to Heaven because I have Jesus in my heart!

As a fellow Christian who stands on the truth of the Word of God, I tell you today that all of your sins are forgiven. Always remember to run to God and not from God, because He loves you and has a great plan for your life.
